Text-to-Speech Voices

If you are using one of the Windows operating systems other than Windows Vista with your CallButler PBX, you probably noticed that the text-to-speech doesn't sound very good.  Most likely, this is because the default voice is Microsoft Sam.  You can use any MS SAPI 5.1 compliant text to speech voice with CallButler. There is a wide range of voices available.  One that we found to be a very good value are the Cepstral voices http://www.cepstral.com.  You will want to use an 8 kHz voice - these are voices that are optimized for telephony.

To change your default voice, in your CallButler PBX, go to Manage Settings > Speech Settings and change the voice from the pull down box (note: you may need to reboot your machine before a newly installed voice is detected).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some people may have LH voices (e.g., LH Michelle, LH Michael) as available voices.  These are not fully MS SAPI 5.1 complaint.  If you use these as your default voice with CallButler, you will have problems such as no sound.
