Codec question

Hi

I got the pbx to register etc.

Is PCMa/u the same at G.711a/u?

If not, is it possible to install them?

Hi /Rikard

Here are a couple of things to try.... first try to move your codec settings  ours are set in this order  GSM (checked) PCMu (checked)  PCMa (UNCHECKED) speex (checked) iLBC (UNCHECKED) LPC (checked)

This works for us but may not work for you. Try to call your VOIP provider and ask them how codec should be set.

Hope this helps
Cheers

G.711 and PCM (pulse code modulation) are the same thing.  A-law and u-law are the two primary compression algorithms.

Hi and thanks for the answers.

The sip-trunk provider i use only have G711, speex and GSM. I'm located in sweden.
I want to use g711 for best quality, just wasn't sure the support was in there.

As for internal use it works great. I havent put it to the test of handle live incoming calls yet (i have my pbx as an extension to an ipcentrex to make sure it can recieve calls and handle the flow correctly).
